I live in the interior of Alaska, back in 2015 I was wandering one of our local junkyards as a 15 year old looking for a first vehicle, something to make a project out of. Now I had no real mechanical abilities at the time, but that didn’t slow me down.
I love anything old and rusty. While exploring the junkyard, I came up on this 1971 Ford F250 and was absolutely taken by it. Growing up, my family always had Fords. I carefully looked it all over, and just had to have it.
Being last tagged in 1984, I was told it used to be a farm truck in the next town over. It really showed, this thing was rode hard and put up wet. But every dent, scratch, and scar told a story and I loved everything about the rig.
Long story short I spent every bit of money I had saved, had it hauled home, and immediately started messing with it. By 2016 I had it running and driving for the first time in over 30 years.
By 2019 I finally got the truck back in fully working order and registered it for the road. I’ve since overhauled the 360, while trying to keep the truck as original as possible. This truck has definitely taught me a lot of valuable skills in life, introduced me to a lot of great people, and has lead to several more 67-72 Fords being drug home.
It’s been an experience I’ll never forget.
